I am Karen Forbes , I was an unhappy girl who studied in Galeton High . I was not pretty , I hated to talk with  others since I was a giant . I was afraid of being laughed at . However , it was Carlos who changed my life .

  We met in a terrible way , I ran into something solid when I was tearing into the classroom with books in my arms , of course , that was Carlos , a small  boy with brown eyes . I felt very angry with him since  the class burst into laughers .

  He was a strange grasshopper , he showed  his humor the first time he talked to us and had my classmates on his side , but I did not like  him . After class , this little boy walked to me and apologized that he was not on purpose , he should say directely that I was so toughy .I shouted that he would not understand , I believed that nobody could understand me , including him , a knee-high boy .

  It was the  school election that made me think of Calos again . I could not understand how this newcomer got to be so popular in a short time . I wondered if he did not  mind his small figure and finally I stopped him to ask for answers . Carlos was still kidding , he did not give me a sensible answer until I wanted to go away . What he said impressed me so much , he told me  that we had to spend our lives in fixed figures  and we were supposed to make the best of it and be ourselves .I was touched because he should say that I was smart and I could be pretty . Then he suggested being my manager and I agreed .

  Great changes have taken place in my life because of Carlos participation . I was to smile ,wear suitable clothes and volunteered to do more things as planned .However , when I had to act a six-foot model ,I felt lowest of all . How I could go out on that stage and make a laughing stock of myself ! Carlos just encouraged and accompanied me all the time , he would be the jockey who fell in love with the model .

 The curtain opened , when we stood up and kissed each other , the big difference in our sizes made the play interesting and the auditorium burst into thunderous applause . I hadn't been proud of my skin before that time and I found myself from then on .

  The play was so successful that lots of people congratulated us after the curtain closed . Reed asked me for a date as I had dreamt of , but I just turned him down .Without  my knowing  it , Carlos has become more important to me and I chose to go with him .

  It was Carlos who made me confident , He helped me with his heart and he let me know that physical defect is not terrible ,  I will be remeber that we have been blessed with intelligence , and confidence can make us happy
